Brean Murray Carret & Co. maintains a 'Hold' on Walter Energy (NYSE: WLT) price target of $103.
Brean analyst says, "...The bottom line is that, in our view, Peabody (NYSE: BTU) and Arcelor's (NYSE: MT) recent agreement to buy Macarthur at a healthy multiple shows that met coal assets are still in high demand. Thus, yesterday evening's media reports suggesting that Anglo (OTC: AAUKY) is considering a bid for Walter are certainly not unreasonable, in our opinion. This is especially true, given that Walter's current stock price is down almost 50% from its 2011 peak."
