ARM Holdings plc (Nasdaq: ARMH) is trading higher Tuesday, following reports the company could potentially be in merger talks.
CEO Warren East recently commented that companies would have to sacrifice a lot by aiming to acquire ARM; a lot of value would have to be scarified in order to change hands. East commented to the U.K.'s Telegraph, "Arm has been built around the principle of being agnostic at every point in the value chain. Because of that approach, it means that acquisitions are very difficult. It's not impossible, but Arm is a very valuable business as it is and a significant part of that value lies in its agnostic approach."
Talks surfaced yesterday that Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) or Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) may bid for the company, though those are some vague rumors. Interest sparked following the proposed acquisition of Autonomy by Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) late last week.
Shares are up 6 percent ahead of the bell Tuesday.
