UPDATE - Auriga initiates coverage on LifePoint Hospitals (Nasdaq: LPNT) with a Hold. PT $41.
Auriga analyst said, "We believe LPNT’s geographic concentration of facilities in rural areas, current economic uncertainty, increasing uncompensated care, and softness in admissions will overshadow management initiatives’ growth drivers in the near term. Our $41 price target is derived by applying 12x P/E multiple to our 2012 EPS estimate of $3.40. Our target P/E multiple is slightly below the company’s five-year average forward P/E of 12.6x, owning to LPNT’s rural market position in a weak economic environment."
