Griffin Securities initiates coverage on shares of EpiCept Corp. (NASDAQ: EPCT) with a Buy rating and $2.50 price target.
The company is currently doing a good job proving its capabilities in the vascular disrupting agents market as its Azixa is showing strong results in the Myrexis-sponsored clinical trials and the NCI has chosen Crolibulin for a clinical study.
Phase two trials of AmiKet have provided researchers with knowledgeable proof-of-concept data that is currently being used to find the right partner for future clinical development. EPCT is forecasting commercialization of the drug in 2015 and plans to begin pivotal trials as soon as next year.
2015 is also when Ceplene is expected to make is commercial launch in the U.S.. Later this year a Phase IV study is expected to be conducted which is looking to find interim data on the therapies efficacy against minimal residual disease and prognostic biomarkers. The firm notes, "The data should help finalize a pivotal trial design with a Special Protocol Assessment with the FDA."
The firm is currently estimating a loss of $0.23 in earnings for fiscal 2011.
