Morgan Joseph initiates coverage on shares of Bacterin International (NYSE: BONE) with a Buy rating and $4.50 price target.
The company has recently developed a proprietary technology for processing human donor tissue into surgical graft material with superior handling characteristics in a sterile. It's new product works as good, if not better than synthetic growth factors
at a third of the price. The firm believes that it will become popular with hospitals.
Over the short term, BONE has extended its product offerings, expanded production capacity, and has assembled a direct sales force which will help drive high revenue growth and margin expansion.
The firm notes that the company's guidance does not include its most recently released products, which should help the company post better than expected results. An analyst at Morgan Joseph points out that in February 2011, BONE increased its product line into subchondral bone and cartilage repair with OsteoSponge SC for use in the knee, foot, and ankle; while in May 2011, the hMatrix dermal scaffold was introduced for soft tissue repair applications.
