July 6, 2011 11:33 AM EDT
HTC, the up-and-coming mobile device manufacturer, Wednesday showed accelerated revenue for its second quarter of 2011.

According to HTC investor relations, June revs came in at NT$45.049 billion. Total sales from the period from April through June were NT$124.4 billion, a 19.4 percent increase from NT$104.16 billion in the first quarter.

The number is more than double the NT$60.53 billion reported for the same period last year.

HTC was expecting revenue of NT$120 billion in the quarter.

The Taiwan-based news site CENS.com said analysts are predicting gross and operating margins of 29 and 15 percent in the quarter, respectively, translating to EPS of NT$20 or better. Shipments of 11.7 million units globally are estimated, what would be an increase from 9.7 million in the first quarter.

HTC has made a name for itself with quality product offerings that go head-to-head with what Motorola (NYSE: MMI), Samsung, Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM), Nokia (NYSE: NOK), and others are offering. It's Thunderbolt was the first 4G device on Verizon's (NYSE: VZ) network, and it is also producing items utilizing Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Phone OS, which has shown promising gains since its release late last year.

Note: Current rates have 1 U.S. dollar the equivalent of 28.75 New Taiwan dollars.
