Brean Murray Carret & Co. maintains a 'Buy' on Walter Energy (NYSE: WLT), $156.

Brean analyst says, "CEO Keith Calder Resigns Unexpectedly...Our Take - A Bit of a Short-Term Negative...Frankly, in our view, this does introduce some near-term uncertainty into the equation for WLT. However, taking a bit of a longer-term view, WLT's assets obviously do not change, and the company remains the highest quality met coal producer in the U.S. Thus, the bottom line is that while this is a bit of a short-term negative, it does not change our longer-term positive view of the company's high-quality met coal assets."
