Family Dollar Stores (FDO) Q3 Earnings, Sales Miss; Cuts FY11 Outlook

Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (NYSE: FDO) reported Q3 EPS of $0.91, $0.04 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.95. Revenue for the quarter came in at $2.15 billion versus the consensus estimate of $2.17 billion.

Sees Q4 2011 EPS of $0.62-$0.70, versus the consensus of $0.65.

Sees FY2011 EPS of $3.08-$3.16, versus the consensus of $3.14. The company had previously guided FY EPS to $3.13-$3.23. Sees FY2011 revenue increasing between 8% and 9%. An increase in comparable store sales of between 5% and 6%; approximately 300 new store openings and 60 to 80 store closings.
