Notable ETF Movers of the Day 06/28: (UNG) (OIH) (SPY) Higher; (VXX) (UUP) (XLF) Lower

Gainers

  • United States Natural Gas (NYSE: UNG) up 1.95 percent to $10.98. Natural gas futures are higher today, following reports that scheduled deliveries to U.S. electricity generators increased for the third straight day on forecasts for warmer weather. Bloomberg notes that shipments increased 2.7 percent to about 18.5 billion cubic feet. Nat gas August contracts are up $0.082 to $4.346 per mmBtu on the Comex.

  • Oil Services HOLDRs (NYSE: OIH) up 2.89 percent to $145.41. Being led by Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB), which is up 3.4 percent, and Halliburton (NYSE: HAL), which is up about 3.7 percent, today. Jim Cramer gave a nod to Schlumberger yesterday, potentially adding some grease to the move. Overall potential for Greek austerity might be another catalyst, as crude prices might rip higher pending settlement of debt concerns.

  • SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE: SPY) up 0.83 percent to $129.00. S&P and Nasdaq are trading higher today on Greek bailout prospects. Further, the Richmond Fed manufacturing index came in at 3.00, versus the consensus of (3.00).

  • iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (NYSE: VXX) down 2.85 percent to $23.48. The CBOE VIX is trading 3 percent lower today as investors and traders are buying into the market on hopes of Greek debt resolution.

  • PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish (NYSE: UUP) down 0.51 percent to $21.42. The dollar is weaker versus the euro and Swiss franc today, as Greece looks to avoid falling into default with a parliamentary vote today. A relief rally might happen for the euro should austerity measures pass.

  • Financial Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLF) down 0.10 percent to $14.90. Not the biggest mover today, but notably being led by JPMorgan (NYSE: JPM), which may extend a $2.25 billion line of credit to New Jersey. Shares of JPM are down 1.3 percent on the session.
