Barclays maintains an 'Equalweight' on Royal Bank of Canada (NYSE: RY), PT increased by $1 to C$61.

Barclays analyst says, "Positive on the Deal, with Long-Term Outlook Even Better: We view the transaction as fairly positive and should be accretive to earnings, improving earnings by an estimated $0.10-$0.12 per share for fiscal 2012. Further, the divesture is expected to lift capital ratios, increasing pro forma Tier 1 ratio by up to 140 bps, and raising Tier 1 common ratio by up to 100 bps. Long term, we believe that removing the U.S. retail banking burden allows RBC to refocus its efforts on more profitable business segments, and quite possibly return more capital to shareholders."
