Barclays analyst, Adam Feinstein, said, "Yesterday, we were pleased to host meetings in Las Vegas with Universal Health Services (NYSE: UHS), HealthSouth (NYSE: HLS) and Kindred Healthcare (NYSE: KND). We note that overall, the companies had an upbeat tone about their facilities in Las Vegas despite some of the concerns that some people have about the Las Vegas market."
"UHS Key Takeaways: 1) Trends in the Las Vegas market appear to be stable; 2) UHS continues to gain market share in Las Vegas; 3) The company noted that it is close to finalizing an extension of its Sierra Contract; 4) UHS is expected flat Medicaid rates to be flat in Nevada; and 5) Supply Costs savings continues to be an area of focus in the company's acute care division."
"HLS Key Takeaways: 1) The company has shown very strong results in the Desert Canyon Facility; 2) HealthSouth noted that it may have the opportunity to gain some volumes from a more formalized patient criteria rules from LTAC reimbursement; and 3) HLS reiterated that it will look to increase its investments in denovo facilities given that it has reached some of its delivering goals."
"KND Key Takeaways: 1) Las Vegas is one of the cluster markets where KND is focused on providing a continuum of care; 2) The recently completed RehabCare acquisition fits in with the company's providing the continuum of care; and 3) The company appears to be making capital investments to reduce re-admissions to a short term acute care hospital."
