Gabelli maintains a 'Buy' on Universal Display (NASDAQ: PANL).
Gabelli analyst said, "Universal Display owns several patents for organic LEDs (OLEDs) and produces the phosphorescent materials used in production of advanced OLED displays. There has been speculation that Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) approached Samsung to source active matrix OLED (AMOLED) displays for its next generation iPad. We expect to see AMOLED display tablets starting in 2012. We recommend purchase of Universal Display shares...Our channel checks still indicate that Universal Display is the sole supplier of red emitter material. Universal Display’s green emitter material is still sampling for commercialization and we continue to believe that adoption of the green emitter material in AMOLED displays is imminent. We believe Universal Display beat out Merck KGaA for green emitter material at Samsung."
