Notable ETF Movers of the Day 05/10: (XLK) (SLV) (XRT) Higher; (VXX) (MOO) Lower

- Technology Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLK) up 0.45 percent to $26.71. Though Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) is trading lower today following its proposed $8.5 billion acquisition of Skype, others in the tech sector are catching a bid on the deal, given the rosy outlook for potentially more M&A in the sector. Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) is leading the ETF higher, rebounding from a close 2.1 percent lower yesterday.
- iShares Silver Trust (NYSE: SLV) up 1.24 percent to $37.44. Debt concerns in Europe is fueling demand for alternative investments, including silver and gold, in lieu of volatile currencies. Standard & Poor’s added another downgraded to Greece's debt rating yesterday, the fourth in 13 months, cutting from to B from BB-.
- SPDR S&P Retail (NYSE: XRT) up 0.81 percent to $53.40. Higher today following M&A and earnings. Additionally, Expedia (Nasdaq: EXPE) is trading surprisingly well following a announcement from Orbitz (NYSE: OWW) that it has entered a contract to assist Eurostar International with hotel and package bookings in Europe.

- iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (NYSE: VXX) down 2.21 percent to $23.46. The CBOE VIX is lower today, down about 5.7 percent, on strong earnings today as well as the proposed acquisition of Skype by Microsoft.
- Market Vectors Agribusiness ETF (NYSE: MOO) down 0.58 percent to $55.00. Lower today as BofA/Merrill Lynch downgraded several in the sector two notches from Buy to Underperform. Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) is 2.5 percent lower on the day following the call.
