Barclays maintains an 'Overweight' on Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. (NASDAQ: NDAQ), PT $33.
Barclays analyst says, "Yesterday, we met with NDAQ President and CEO, Robert Greifeld, to discuss the proposed NDAQ / ICE acquisition of NYX. From the meeting, we walked away with a fairly focused set of "next steps" for the company over the coming months. First, the company continues to look to actively engage the NYX board. The company is keen to open a dialog with NYX's board in order to perform a more thorough due diligence, perhaps leading to an increase in the potential synergies NDAQ / ICE can identify."
"Leaving the meeting, we believe NDAQ has laid out some cogent arguments and a focused path forward. That is not to say we believe the road ahead will be an easy one. We continue to note the structural headwinds involved in breaking up a proposed deal, something we have seen attempted before in the space. We believe NDAQ and ICE (NYSE: ICE)must continue to actively engage shareholders, impressing upon them the merits of their proposed acquisition while working towards providing greater regulatory clarity around the deal."
