Nasdaq/ICE to Hold First Formal Meeting with DoJ This Week - Gasparino (NDAQ) (ICE) (NYX)

April 18, 2011 2:21 PM EDT
Shares of NYSE Euronext (NYSE: NYX) have surged in mid-day trade following a report from Fox's Charlie Gasparino.

After trading down about 2 percent just ahead of the Gasparino rumor, NYSE Euronext shares are now down about 1.5 percent to $38.37.

According to Gasparino's sources, Nasdaq (Nasdaq: NDAQ) and IntercontinentalExchange (NYSE: ICE) will have their first formal meeting with the U.S. Department of Justice sometime this week, possibly as early as Monday. While Gasparino said it is unlikely the two suitors will receive a definitive nod from regulators, they are really only looking for a "wink and an eye."

Gasparino noted Nasdaq and ICE could still be looking at ways to enhance the deal, although the reporter expects a revised offer to be announced closer to the NYSE Euronext Board meeting around April 28.
