This report is an intraday check of some of the more notable stocks that have hit a 52-week high or low so far today.

52-Week High:
  • Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) high of $6.12. Alcatel is seeing a bid today following a Morgan Stanley upgrade. Morgan Stanley expects Alcatel to post profit of €19 million in Q111 versus a pretax loss of €52 million. Notably, this would be the first first-quarter profit for Alcatel since 2007. Morgan Stanley also increased Alcatel's price target to €3.90, tied for the highest on the Street. The note came out mid-day yesterday, which may have been just when the Euronext Paris was closing, so a delayed reaction must've been in the mix.

  • Silgan Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: SLGN) high of $43.29. Silgan making a run for it today, following the announcement that it would be acquiring Graham Packaging in a deal valued at $4.1 billion, to be paid in cash and stock. Shares moved 17.5 percent today, though the stock still appears to be reaching for new highs late this afternoon.

  • Eagle Rock Energy Partners, L.P. (Nasdaq: EROC) high of $12.17. Another buyer being shown some love today, Eagle Rock reported that it will be acquiring Crow Creek Energy II L.L.C., which is a portfolio company of Natural Gas Partners VIII, L.P., in a deal valued at $525 million. Eagle Rock stock is up nearly 19 percent to the high today.

  • Swisher Hygiene Inc. (Nasdaq: SWSH) high of $9.58. Swisher is on a tear this year, making more than ten acquisitions of smaller companies. Shares are up 9.7 percent to the new high today. The stock is also up about 95 percent since the start of 2011.
52-Week Low:
  • Biostar Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: BSPM) low of $1.55. Down over 20 percent on the day today, following a management shift from Biostar. Biostar named Zack Zibing Pan as its new Chief Financial Officer, and King-fai (Patrick) Leung as an independent director to the Board and Chairman of the Audit Committee.

  • Cree Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) low of $41.07. Cree could be seeing a little downside from a downgrade of peer SemiLEDS (Nasdaq: LEDS) by Canaccord Genuity from Buy to Hold, citing visibility issues moving forward. Shares down 4.4 percent on the day.

  • PMI Group Inc. (NYSE: PMI) low of $2.24. PMI has seen some weakness over the last few weeks following earnings. Shares previously have seen support at the $2.60 price level, but got enough volume to sustain a break through that mark.
