- Molycorp, Inc. (NYSE: MCP) high of $72.74. JPMorgan boosted its price target on Overweight Molycorp from $74 to $90. The stock is responding, up 8.2 percent to the new high today.
- Avalon Rare Metals Inc. (AMEX: AVL) high of $10.11. Rare earths seeing another pop today following the aforementioned price target boost by JPMorgan on MolyCorp. Positive sentiment is causing Avalon stock to pop 8.9 percent on the day.
- Biogen Idec Inc. (Nasdaq: BIIB) high of $78.30. Biogen reports positive top-line results from DEFINE, the first of two pivotal Phase 3 clinical trials designed to evaluate the investigational oral compound BG-12 (dimethyl fumarate) as a monotherapy in people with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Results showed that 240 mg of BG-12, administered either twice or three times a day, met the primary study endpoint, demonstrating a highly statistically significant reduction (p<0.0001) in the proportion of patients with RRMS who relapsed at two years compared with placebo.
- Electronics for Imaging, Inc. (Nasdaq: EFII) high of $18.15. Investors buying Electronics for Imaging today as the company boosted its outlook. Electronics for Imaging now sees first-quarter revs of $139 - $140 million and adjusted ES of $0.27 - $0.28. The Street was looking for revs of $128.18 million and EPS of $0.16. Electronics for Imaging previously saw Q111 adjusted EPS of $0.14 - $0.16. Shares popped 21 percent to the new high today.
- Community Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: CYH) low of $22.33. Tenet Healthcare (NYSE: THC) filed a suit against Community Health alleging over-billing by the Franklin, TN-based medical company.
- AMR Corporation (NYSE: AMR) low of $5.57. Amid easing oil prices, AMR Corp. still seeing a little downside as Dahlman Rose downgraded the stock to Sell, setting a $4.50 price target.
- Gulf Resources, Inc. (Nasdaq: GFRE) low of $5.01. Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR) to increase margin requirements on China reverse merger stocks from 50 percent to 100 percent over the next three days. Gulf Resources would be one of the companies affected by the move. Shares down 11.5 percent today.
