Adage Capital Discloses 6% Stake in KV Pharma (KV-A)

Adage Capital Partners filed a 13G with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission after the close Monday showing ownership of 2,950,000 shares, or 6.08%, of KV Pharmaceuticals (NYSE: KV-A).

Looking at its 13F quarterly filing, Adage did not appear to have a stake in KV prior to this filing.

K-V Pharmaceutical Company, together with its subsidiaries, develops, manufactures, acquires, and markets branded and generic/non-branded prescription pharmaceutical products.

Adage Capital is a Boston-based hedge fund founded by Phillip Gross which held nearly $25.7 billion in securities at the end of the quarter ended December 31, 2010.

The firm focuses on managing S&P 500 assets predominantly for Endowments and Foundations such as Harvard University, Northwestern University, Dartmouth College, the American Red Cross and the Getty Foundation.
