Semiconductors stocks are seeing significant interest after-hours Monday following Texas Instruments' (NYSE: TXN) $6.5 billion takeover of National Semiconductor (NYSE: NSM), which came at a 78 percent premium.
While most semiconductor stocks are benefiting, as represented by the 3 percent move in ETF Semiconductor HOLDRs (NYSE: SMH), National Semiconductor's closest competitors are seeing the most interest. This is related to speculation they could be next or the simple fact that they may be severely undervalued.
These companies include: Analog Devices Inc. (NYSE: ADI), Intersil Corporation (Nasdaq: ISIL), Linear Technology Corp. (Nasdaq: LLTC) and Maxim Integrated Products Inc. (Nasdaq: MXIM). Shares of these closest competitors are rising between 5-6 percent after-hours Monday.
