UPDATE - UBS initiates coverage on Gevo (Nasdaq: GEVO) with a Neutral. PT $21.
UBS analyst says, "Gevo is commercializing bio-isobutanol made from corn. It is focused on first producing highly demanded chemical intermediates such as isobutylene; fuel markets will come next. Through 2015, only low single digit penetration is needed to execute on plan for its large addressable markets for various chemical (~$10B) and fuel (>$150B) applications. Its IP/tech advantage - it has demonstrated a 94% yield (higher than its most significant peer)--should keep operating expenses low while making for attractive economics for partners and customers alike."
"We initiate at Neutral given valuation and as we await achievement of certain milestones, including: 1) conversion of existing LOIs into contracts; 2) on-schedule retrofit of plant #1 (first isobutanol sales in 1H12); 3) additional LOIs signed; 4) new customer acquisitions. We believe progress on these de-risking events would increase shareholder value."
