Notable ETF Movers of the Day 03/02: (SMH) (EWZ) (USO) Higher; (UNG) (UUP) (IYR) Lower

- Semiconductor HOLDRs (NYSE: SMH) up 2.35% to $36.01. Semis seeing some upside today as J.P.Morgan upgraded Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN), ON Semi (Nasdaq: ONNN) and Xilinx (Nasdaq: XLNX) from Neutral to Overweight. Xilinx is leading the ETF higher, up 6.3% on the day.
- iShares MSCI Brazil Index (NYSE: EWZ) up 2.03% to $74.61. Brazil stocks seeing an uptick today on ADP data showing that the U.S. added 217K jobs in the private sector during February. Brazil's BOVESPA is up 1.3% as of recent checks.
- United States Oil (NYSE: USO) up 1.73% to $41.18. Making a move higher today following EIA data which reported a 364K barrel drop in inventory last week, compared to an increase of 822K barrels the prior week, ahead of when increased turmoil in North Africa and the Middle East really took place. WTI April 11 contracts are up $2.10/barrel to $101.73/barrel on the Comex today.

- United States Natural Gas (NYSE: UNG) down 1.35% to $5.11. Continuing lower today on speculation that the EIA will report an inventory drop of 86 billion cubic feet for last week, below the five-year average of 131 Bcf. April 11 contracts are down $0.037/mmBtu to $3.836/mmBtu on the Comex.
- PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish (NYSE: UUP) down 0.54% to $22.00. The U.S. dollar is slipping upon investor/trader sentiment that interest rates will remain low for the "forseeable future," as the Fed likes to put it. Investors will get a better outlook this afternoon, when the Fed releases its Beige Book, providing an update from each district.
- iShares Dow Jones US Real Estate (NYSE: IYR) down 0.80% to $58.48. Lower today as the MBA Mortgage Index came in down 6.5%, from an increase of 13.2% the prior week. The MBA adjusted Purchase Index also fell, but by just 6.1%. Both numbers would have thinned on an unadjusted basis. Finally, the top holdings in the ETF are mixed, with Avalonbay Communities Inc. (NYSE: AVB) leading lower, down 1.4%
