JCPenney (JCP) Reports Q3 Adj-EPS of $0.30; Guides Q4, Raises FY09 Outlook

JCPenney (NYSE: JCP) reports Q3 EPS of $0.30, ex-items, versus the analyst estimate of $0.11. Revenue for the quarter was $4.18 billion, which compares to the estimate of $4.18 billion.

Same store sales were down 4.6% during the quarter.

Sees Q4 comps down 4-6% and EPS of $0.70-$0.85, versus the Street estimate of $0.82. Q4 sales are expected to be down 3-5%.

Raises its FY09 EPS guidance from $0.75-$0.90 to $0.93-$1.08, versus the consensus of $1.05. Comps are expected to be down 6.5-7%, versus the previous estimate of down 7-7.5%.
