Darden (DRI) Reports Mixed Q1 Results; Blended Comps Fall 5.3%; Affirms FY10 Outlook

Darden Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: DRI) reports Q1 EPS from continuing operations of $0.67, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.66. Revenue for the quarter was $1.73 billion, which compares to the estimate of $1.78 billion.

Blended same store sales were down 5.3%.

Sales at Red Lobster were $605 million, with comps sales down 7.9%, sales at Olive Garden were $821 million, with same store sales down 2.9%, and same store sales down 6.2% at Longhorn. At The Capital Grille, same store sales fell 18%, while at Bahama Breeze, comps were down 6.3%.

Affirms its previously issued FY10 EPS guidance of $2.59-$2.85, which compares to the Street estimate of $2.81.
