Pacific Sunwear of California, Inc. (Nasdaq: PSUN) said same-store sales increased 9.6% in August, versus the consensus of a 1.8% gain.
The company reported that total sales for the four weeks of fiscal August ended September 1, 2007 were $181.6 million, an increase of 13.6%.
The Company believes that its August sales performance is attributable in part to the later start of back to school in Florida and Texas that occurred in fiscal August this year versus fiscal July last year.
