Aeropostale, Inc. Julian R. Geiger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer said, "Our sales results for the month reflect the negative impact from a shift in the back to school calendar in certain markets that we had previously discussed, as well as a more challenging overall retail environment than we had anticipated. While our sales for July were below our initial plan, we were able to continue to manage our promotional cadence and inventory levels during the month. As such, we expect to achieve second quarter earnings in the range of $0.27 - $0.28 per diluted share, slightly ahead of our previously issued guidance." (Consensus is $0.28)
