Citi analyst Samantha Semenkow reiterated a Buy rating and a $1,301.00 price target on argenx SE (NASDAQ: ARGX), with shares last closing at $869.72.
The rating comes ahead of pivotal Phase 3 EMPASSION trial data for empasiprubart, a C2 inhibitor being studied in Multifocal Motor Neuropathy, a rare neuromuscular disease. The study is designed to detect noninferiority on grip strength between empasiprubart and IVIg.
Semenkow noted that the study design is based on encouraging Phase 2 proof-of-concept data and that detecting superiority, while representing a positive outcome, is not viewed as necessary for regulatory approval or commercial success. The analyst estimated peak sales opportunity for empasiprubart in MMN at approximately $1 billion to $1.5 billion.
Argenx is also developing empasiprubart in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, with data expected in the second half of 2027, as well as a combination therapy with Vyvgart in generalized myasthenia gravis.
