Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Gareth Gacetta initiates coverage on Forward Industries (NASDAQ: FWDI) with a Overweight rating, PT$7.90.
The analyst comments "We are initiating coverage of Forward Industries (FWDI) with an OW rating and a 12-month PT of $7.90. Our Thesis: Size Matters. FWDI's ~7m SOL position (1.23% of total supply) puts its validator among the Top 10 globally (1.6-1.8% of all staked SOL), which is above the threshold where third-party delegation flywheels kick in. Staking rewards scale with delegated stake, and top-tier scale gives validators a leg up compared to smaller validators who cannot economically compete on commission rates and yield performance. Solana Price has Disconnected from Broader Ecosystem Momentum. SOL has been one of the worst performers of 2026, despite seeing continued growth in underlying network fundamentals (DEX volumes, stablecoin supply, tokenized RWA's), which we believe creates an attractive entry point in a vehicle that gives leveraged exposure to a potential re-rating of Solana. Playing The Overhaul of Financial Infrastructure. Pillar 3 of FWDI's shareholder value framework positions it as an operating platform that supports the deployment of Solana-native financial infrastructure rather than a passive holder of SOL tokens. The company's May 2026 investment in OnRe is the first initiative of this template, during which FWDI co-led its $5m Series A round and committed up to $25m to the ONyc RWA reinsurance token, which gives equity-level exposure to an emerging onchain reinsurance platform, while also generating USD-denominated income that is uncorrelated to SOL staking yields. Valuation. Our NAV framework values FWDI on a 12-month forward SOL position of ~7.4m SOL (current holdings + NTM staking) to arrive at a $7.90 PT. We think shares are compelling here, as mNAV has compressed in the 0.80x to 1.00x range against a backdrop where mgmt has already demonstrated disciplined capital allocation via the buyback of ~6.2m shares. Importantly, our framework only captures the SOL treasury and visible token holdings, ascribing zero value to any operational uplift from its OnRe and any future capital deployments. The combination of a sub-1.00x mNAV entry, a top-10 validator footprint, and a clear capital allocation playbook creates a setup where downside is bounded by treasury value, while upside is leveraged to both a SOL re-rating and execution on FWDI's infrastructure initiatives."
