H.C. Wainwright Starts Tvardi Therapeutics Inc (TVRD) at Buy

H.C. Wainwright analyst Sara Nik initiates coverage on Tvardi Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: TVRD) with a Buy rating and a price target of $9.00.

The analyst comments "An undervalued STAT3 play. We are initiating coverage of Tvardi Therapeutics with a Buy rating and $9 price target. Tvardi is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing oral, small molecule inhibitors of STAT3, a highly validated but historically undruggable target central to oncogenesis, fibrotic signaling and immune dysregulation. The company’s lead program, TTI-101, is the first direct oral pY-STAT3 inhibitor to enter Phase 2 clinical development and is currently being evaluated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in the ongoing Phase 1b/2 REVERT LIVER CANCER trial, with topline results anticipated in 2H26. While Tvardi recently experienced a significant clinical setback when its Phase 2 REVERT trial in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) did not meet its primary goals in October 2025, driven by high G.I.-related discontinuation rates and a shallow placebo FVC decline rather than an absence of target biology, we view the resulting stock de-rating as a discounted entry point. The company retains FDA Orphan Drug and Fast-Track designations in HCC, human proof-of-concept pharmacodynamic data across two indications, and a next-generation prodrug candidate, TTI-109, designed specifically to address the tolerability limitations identified in the IPF trial, with Phase 1 healthy volunteer topline data expected 2Q26."
