Goldman Sachs analyst Bonnie Herzog initiates coverage on Suja Life Inc. (NASDAQ: SUJA) with a Buy rating and a price target of $31.00.
The analyst comments "
Our View - We initiate coverage of Suja Life, Inc. (SUJA) - a leading producer of cold-pressed juice and other better-for-you beverages in the U.S. - with a Buy rating and a 12-month price target of $31. SUJA was founded in 2012 and the company holds an ~8% share of the natural healthy beverage (NHB) category and a #1 share position in the cold-pressed juice sub-category (according to company-provided data from SPINS). Importantly, we see SUJA as an innovator & disruptor within the fast-growing NHB category (+13% growth last year), supported in part by the company’s unique, vertically integrated supply chain - which we believe is a key competitive advantage that helps create a significant moat around SUJA’s business that is difficult (& expensive) to recreate. Looking ahead, we see a long runway of attractive volume-driven topline growth for SUJA, with a strong +14% CAGR through FY28 (reaching $487M in net sales, up from $327M in FY25), driven by: (1) Favorable secular trends towards healthy, better-for-you beverages/products – highlighted by Suja’s low sugar products (80% of SUJA’s SKUs have <6 grams of sugar per serving), organic ingredients, and functional benefits - with formulations backed by doctors and nutritionists; (2) Expanded brand awareness & household penetration - SUJA currently has ~11% household penetration levels (+31% y/y), suggesting plenty of upside ahead - supported in part by mgmt’s sustained investment in high-ROI marketing (i.e. media & influencer partnerships) aimed at driving SUJA’s reach to a broader audience of health-minded consumers; (3) Greater distribution across channels with new and existing partners - including increased shelf/cooler space, expanded SKU variety, and additional secondary displays & cooler placements among existing customers, while significant whitespace opportunity exists in the all-important immediate consumption c-store channel and the broader away-from-home category (i.e. college campuses, fitness facilities, and airports); (4) Higher purchase frequency among existing consumers - particularly considering SUJA's customers are often sticky, with customers purchasing 6% more in the last year (Suja Organic alone increased +15% over the same period) - driven by the secular shift toward health & wellness-related beverages; (5) Investment in innovation - particularly as mgmt has laid the foundation for a health & wellness platform of growth that extends into other brands/categories across non-alcoholic beverages over time; and (6) Strategic growth through M&A as the company continues to build a modern functional beverage platform company - albeit, with the caveat that M&A is not currently baked into our model."
