Keefe, Bruyette & Woods analyst Kelly Motta raised the price target on Hope Bancorp (NASDAQ: HOPE) to $14.00 (from $13.00) while maintaining a Market Perform rating.
The analyst commented: "Highly Accretive Deal Accelerates Profitability Improvement; We feel incrementally more positive on HOPE following the announced acquisition of SMBC's Commercial Business Unit. The transaction is wholly consistent with HOPE's strategic focus on building out the commercial banking business, utilizing excess capital (~210bps of CET1 deployed) to accelerate these efforts in a way that is highly accretive to earnings. We are updating our model to incorporate this proposed deal, which takes our 2026E/2027E up by 2%/19% to $1.16/1.66 and our PT to $14 (from $13)."
