Goldman Sachs analyst Tito Labarta initiates coverage on AGI Inc (NYSE: AGBK) with a Buy rating and a price target of $19.00.
The analyst comments: "We initiate coverage on AGI Inc. (AGBK) with a Buy rating and a $19 price target (81% upside). We see AGI as a niche player in Brazil’s INSS payroll loan ecosystem, benefiting from repayments that are typically deducted directly from social security benefits, which supports a comparatively resilient risk profile versus many retail credit products. We also think AGI’s hybrid distribution model is well suited to serving pensioners and retirees who may be less digitally native, supporting continued market share gains as incumbents reduce focus in the segment.
We view AGI’s profitability as elevated versus peers (25% ROE vs. Brazil large banks and neobanks at 21% on avg), with cross-selling as a key incremental earnings lever, particularly into unsecured personal loans and insurance. While INSS payroll loans represent 78% of the loan book, revenues are more diversified, implying meaningful contribution from higher-yielding products and fees. Credit risk should be relatively contained for payroll products, but we flag regulatory risk as one key debate (e.g., rate caps and rule changes can alter margins, growth, and competition)."
