Mizuho analyst Anthony Crowdell raised the price target on CenterPoint Energy (NYSE: CNP) to $44.00 (from $42.00) while maintaining a Neutral rating.
The analyst commented: "CNP announced 2025 adj. EPS of $3.76 and 4Q EPS of $0.45, both in line with consensus. Management reaffirmed 2026 adj. EPS guidance of $1.89-$1.91 and maintained its 7-9% annual growth rate through 2035. The dominant theme on the call was the accelerating load growth in the Houston Electric service territory, where peak demand is now expected to increase by 50% by 2029, two years earlier than previous forecasts. The company increased its 10‑year capital plan by $500 million to $65.5B, reflecting the addition of a third 765 kV transmission line. Balance sheet flexibility improved following favorable U.S. Treasury guidance on the Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax, which management expects to improve FFO/Debt by ~60-70 bps. With the CAMT benefit being unexpected, we viewed the call as constructive as CNP’s balance sheet has been a major concern for investors. We maintain our Neutral rating and increase our price target to $44."
