Stifel analyst Shlomo Rosenbaum lowered the price target on S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) to $489.00 (from $599.00) while maintaining a Buy rating.
The analyst commented, "While the quarter's results and the 2026 guidance were lower than expected, we attribute most of the 9.7% decline in SPGI stock price (versus the S&P 500 down 0.3%) as continued AI disruption fears, which is a narrative that is tough to fight, particularly if the Market Intelligence revenue and margin was a bit lighter than expected. We don't think SPGI is experiencing AI-related disruption, and don't expect it to, but it is tough to disprove the narrative at this point in time. We are lowering our target price to $489, reflecting our view that the market is overestimating the impact of potential AI-disruption on SPGI's business, but also reflecting that it will be tough to fight the narrative to regain the prior multiples in the near-term."
