Canaccord Genuity analyst Jason Tichen lowered the price target on Udemy Inc (NASDAQ: UDMY) to $5.00 (from $7.00) while maintaining a Hold rating.
The analyst commented: "Udemy reported solid Q4 results, with revenue and profitability slightly ahead of expectations. The company saw continued signs that its shift upmarket for the Enterprise business is bearing fruit, with AI-related content and new products like its custom role play simulations and MCP server enabling organizations to create more personalized learning journeys. Udemy also made progress with its subscription-first approach, as subscription revenue made up over three quarters of total revenue in Q4. Management did not host an earnings call or provide guidance given the pending transaction with Coursera that was announced in December, which is still on track to close in 2H26. As a reminder, the two companies are highly complementary, with the resulting entity benefiting from Udemy’s strength with Enterprise customers and Coursera’s robust online learning offering for consumers. This unified platform will allow for larger yet more efficient investments in product and go-to-market initiatives while also delivering significant cost synergies, helping the combined company achieve an adj. EBITDA margin closer to 20% while accelerating its ability to meet the growing demand for reskilling driven by technological advancements such as AI. Shares of both UDMY and COUR have remained under pressure over recent months, but we continue to feel the combined company’s greater scale, broader suite of content & product capabilities, and enhanced distribution will enable it to generate more value for customers and shareholders than either was capable of on a standalone basis."
