H.C. Wainwright Reiterates Buy Rating on Aligos Therapeutics Inc. (ALGS)

H.C. Wainwright analyst Patrick Trucchio reiterated a Buy rating and $50.00 price target on Aligos Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: ALGS).

The analyst commented: "On January 21, Aligos released an update confirming continued progress in the Phase 2 (B-SUPREME) trial evaluating pevifoscorvir sodium (pevy) for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB), including 144 patients enrolled globally and protocol-defined interim analyses on track for 1H26 and 2H26. We followed up with management later that day, speaking with Lawrence Blatt (Chairman, President, and CEO), Lesley Ann Calhoun (EVP, COO, and CFO), and Jordyn Tarazi (VP, Investor Relations & Corporate Communications). Incrementally, management provided high-confidence framing around what will matter most at the upcoming interims—specifically, how quantitative HBV DNA declines in B-SUPREME track in comparison to Phase 1—while underscoring that sample size re-estimation, if pursued, would be a pre-specified, protocol-driven exercise rather than a negative efficacy signal. Management also reinforced pevy’s positioning as a monotherapy chronic-suppression backbone with longer-term optionality in functional-cure combinations and possible hepatitis delta virus use (HDV), alongside constructive commentary on global regulatory alignment, pipeline differentiation, and continued strategic interest in the metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) program. In our view, these updates further de-risk the 2026 interim updates and 2027 topline data, sharpen the long-term HBV narrative, and support our belief that Aligos is well positioned to create value across virology and metabolic liver disease. As such, we reiterate our Buy rating and $50 price target on ALGS."
