Richard Baker assumes CEO role at Saks Global as Marc Metrick steps down
Saks Global announced that Richard Baker, the company's Executive Chairman, has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer while maintaining his chairman position. Marc Metrick stepped down from his CEO role to pursue other opportunities.
Baker will oversee the luxury retailer's operations and work with the management team on the company's transformation initiatives. Saks Global describes itself as the largest multi-brand luxury retailer globally.
"I look forward to continuing to work with our highly experienced management team, valued partners, and other stakeholders to secure a strong and stable future for our company," Baker said in a statement.
Metrick served nearly three decades with Saks, beginning his career there in 1995. He took leadership of Saks Fifth Avenue in 2015, overseeing the development of Saks.com as an ecommerce platform during his tenure.
"After nearly three decades with Saks, I will be stepping down as Chief Executive Officer," Metrick said. "I am deeply grateful to my colleagues, partners, and the entire Saks community for their support and collaboration over the years."
The leadership transition was announced in a company statement. Baker acknowledged Metrick's contributions to the company's growth and transformation during his tenure.
