RBC Capital analyst Walter Spracklin raised the price target on Norfolk Southern (NYSE: NSC) to $325.00 (from $315.00) while maintaining a Sector Perform rating.
The analyst commented: "Q4 estimate lower and below consensus; price target increases to $325 (from $315); maintain Sector Perform. Our Q4 estimate moves lower due to lower than expected volumes. Our Q4 estimate goes to $2.75 (from $2.97), below consensus $2.86. Price target increases to $325 (from $315) due to increases in the UNP share price. We are uncertain if management provides guidance, but see guidance as less impactful to sentiment given the proposed merger with UNP."
