BMO Capital analyst James Thalacker raised the price target on Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) to $95.00 (from $88.00) while maintaining a Outperform rating.
The analyst comments "Sempra announced its much anticipated PSA, selling a greater-than-expected 45% stake of Sempra Infrastructure Partners (SIP) to KKR for $10bn (implying a 13.8x EV/EBITDA forward multiple). Importantly, the transaction will also result in a change of control (to KKR), allowing the credit-positive de-consolidation of SIP debt and the modestly better valuation likely reflecting a control premium. With an expected close in 2Q-3Q26, sales proceeds are spread across 2026/2027/2033 ($4.65bn/$4.14bn/ $1.2bn respectively). Management also announced the FID of Port Arthur LNG Phase 2, with COD for the 3rd/4th trains in 2030/2031."
