HSBC analyst Saul Martinez raised the price target on PNC Financial (NYSE: PNC) to $219.00 (from $213.00) while maintaining a Buy rating.
The analyst comments: "This morning, PNC announced the acquisition of FirstBank, one of the largest privately held banks in the US with 95 branches in Colorado in Arizona, for USD4.125bn (70% stock/30% cash). The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2026 and is subject to regulatory and shareholder approval. The acquisition expedites PNC’s growth in southwest expansion markets (notably Arizona) and catapults the company to a number two deposit share in the state of Colorado (15.4% share) and the leading share in Denver. FirstBank has cUSD27bn in assets (PNC: cUSD559bn), cUSD16bn in deposits (PNC: cUSD427bn), and cUSD16bn in loans (PNC: USD326bn). The acquisition is consistent with PNC’s aim to add scale and grow nationally, in our view. We also note that PNC has a solid track record of integrating acquired banks, notably BBVA US (2021) and RBC’s southeast business (2012)."
