Citizens JMP analyst David Scharf initiates coverage on Jefferson Capital (NASDAQ: JCAP) with a Market Outperform rating and a price target of $23.00.
The analyst comments: "We are initiating coverage of Jefferson Capital with a rating of Market Outperform and a $23 price target. Founded in 2002, Jefferson Capital (JCAP) has a multi-decade track record of successfully driving profitable collections on hard-to-collect portfolios, effectively “cracking the code” on collecting on low-balance accounts. The company has expanded past its core U.S. market and is now active in four geographies and covers six different product types. The company also has a track record of sustained profitability, having achieved positive net income every year since inception. We believe JCAP will continue to dominate in its small-balance segments and have a runway of potential new sellers to drive greater organic growth versus industry peers. Our $23 price target is based on ~9x our 2026 adjusted EPS estimate, which represents a potential total return of ~43%, including the $0.96 annual dividend."
