UBS analyst Peter Grom lowered the price target on Helen of Troy (NASDAQ: HELE) to $29.00 (from $32.00) while maintaining a Neutral rating.
The analyst commented, "HELE reported a 1Q miss and again held back on providing its FY26 guidance due to tariff/macro uncertainty, but outlined expectations for F2Q (see more details below). As we highlighted in our First Read, the print itself fell short of Street expectations, largely driven by weaker organic sales growth, which came in -768bps below the Street. Management attributed the majority of the shortfall to tariff-related trade disruptions, which accounted for ~8ppt of the -10.8% sales decline. Additionally, broader demand softness, consumer trade-down behavior, and retailer inventory tightening further weighed on results. While management characterized these headwinds as largely transitory, they expect them to persist into 2Q before improving in the second half. Shares initially opened -30%, but the move down narrowed later in the day (albeit marginally) despite management suggesting that current Street EPS estimates for the year seem reasonable. We are encouraged by the commentary, but think having conviction in the the pace/magnitude of earnings growth remains limited given the many moving pieces (including many outside the company's control) and as such we think investors are likely to wait for greater signs that this recovery is taking shape before stepping in."
