Lucid Capital Markets analyst Elemer Piros initiates coverage on INmune Bio Inc. (NASDAQ: INMB) with a Buy rating and a price target of $25.00.
The analyst comments "Initiating coverage of INmune Bio, Inc. (INMB) with a Buy rating and a $25/share 12-month price target. INmune is one of the few companies in mid- to late-stage development for Alzheimer’s disease. Our Buy thesis on the shares of INmune is based on the following: Seven Million Patients are Waiting: There are 7M patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) in the US alone[1]. The numbers are expected to double every 20 years with the aging population. Band-Aids: The drug industry has not yet offered a meaningful disease modifying drug to the AD patient population. Currently available oral drugs provide some symptomatic benefit — often to the relief of caretakers. Immunotherapies were thought to change the bleak outlook; however, while clearing the plaque from the brain, these drugs offer potentially a six-month delay in disease progression with a minimal improvement in symptoms. Indeed, one of the previously approved such drugs, Aduhelm, was withdrawn from the market for lack of efficacy and reimbursement. Targeting Inflammation: XProTM developed by INmune, is an experimental treatment for AD that targets neuroinflammation, a key driver of the disease. It selectively inhibits soluble TNF-α, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, while preserving transmembrane TNF-α to maintain normal immune function. By reducing harmful inflammation, XPro helps modulate overactive microglia, protect neurons, and potentially improve cognitive function. Early clinical trials have shown promising results, including reduced markers of neuroinflammation, improved brain connectivity, and indications of cognitive stabilization. While further studies are needed to confirm its efficacy and safety, XPro offers hope as a disease-modifying therapy for AD. Large Proof of Concept Trial; Results in June: The MINDFul trial, initiated in 2022, involves participants randomly assigned to receive either XPro (1mg/kg) or a placebo via once-weekly subcutaneous injections over 23 weeks (n=203). This Phase 2 study (NCT05318976) aims to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of XPro in patients with early Alzheimer’s Disease with inflammation biomarkers (ADi). It seeks to determine whether a 1mg/kg dose improves cognition, function, and biomarkers of white matter. Early ADi patients are defined as individuals with mild Alzheimer’s disease or Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) accompanied by evidence of inflammation biomarkers. The primary objective is to assess changes in cognition using the innovative Early and Mild Alzheimer’s Cognitive Composite (EMACC) scale. Secondary goals include additional cognitive assessments, evaluations of nerve fiber health and neurodegeneration, and measurements of inflammatory biomarkers. Following the main trial, participants can enroll in an open-label extension study (NCT05522387), where they will receive XPro for at least one year."
