Keefe, Bruyette & Woods analyst Tommy McJoynt raised the price target on Root, Inc. (NASDAQ: ROOT) to $170.00 (from $150.00) while maintaining an Outperform rating.
The analyst commented: "1Q25 was another strong quarter, as +9% q/ q PIF growth outpaced +4% consensus expectations. Alongside the stronger topline growth was continued best-in-industry underwriting, with the gross and net loss ratios each 5-6 points better than consensus expectations. We're raising our forward estimates and lifting our target to $170. We reiterate our Outperform rating on ROOT for three reasons: 1) we still see significant upside to consensus estimates (we're now $4.50/sh above consensus in aggregate through '27E); 2) its agility (size and technology) positions it well competitively facing tariff uncertainty (has only 454,000 policies across ~35 states); and 3) channel diversification (currently 67% direct / 33% partnership) provides different avenues for growth."
