Stifel analyst J. Bruce Chan lowered the price target on J.B. Hunt Transport Services (NASDAQ: JBHT) to $150.00 (from $158.00) while maintaining a Hold rating.
The analyst comments "J.B. Hunt reported 1Q25 EPS of $1.17 — within a conservative guidance range set on last quarter's call and above our estimate and the Street consensus of $1.12 and $1.15, respectively. The company's bearish tone from last quarter persists, which makes sense to us given a very choppy fundamental freight setup for the back half of the year. Intermodal volumes, while stronger-than-expected in 1Q25, have experienced some level of demand pull forward, in our view, and inbound port volumes are at risk. The potential offset could be an increase in road-to-rail conversion as shippers look for modal cost savings. Dedicated saw more fleet contraction than expected, ICS remains loss making, JBT faces low pricing and softening demand, and Final Mile volume continues to bounce along the bottom. Valuation has come in substantially for JBHT, but with significant demand uncertainty and further downside risk to the model, we remain on the sidelines; target price to $150 from $158."
