William Blair analyst Brian Drab downgraded Valmont Industries (NYSE: VMI) from Outperform to Market Perform.

The analyst comments "Tariffs Creating Uncertainty. Following our meeting with Valmont management this week, we are downgrading the stock to Market Perform. Given the recent evolution of the terms associated with expected tariffs on Mexico, Valmont management is increasingly cautious regarding the impact these tariffs could have on earnings in the near term. In the 2024 10-K filing, management said the company’s Mexican operations export approximately $230 million of steel structures to the United States annually. Original 2025 guidance, issued in February, only contemplated tariffs on the portion of this business in which steel sourced from Mexico is used to produce structures that are shipped to the United States. In our recent meeting with management, it became clear that the current expectation is that tariffs on Mexico would also include product made in Mexico with steel sourced from the United States."
