Piper Sandler analyst Nathan Race raised the price target on Wintrust Financial (NASDAQ: WTFC) to $156.00 (from $151.00) while maintaining a Overweight rating.
The analyst commented: "Unwarranted Sell-Off Today; Still Expect Outperformance in '25; We reiterate WTFC at Overweight and believe today's underperformance presents an attractive entry point as WTFC is likely to generate both superior NII growth and operating leverage this year. Today's sell-off is somewhat understandable given confusion around mgmt. conference call commentary for a higher 2025 operating expense level vs. prior consensus expectations. In our view, WTFC is likely to more than offset a moderately higher operating expense trajectory via NII upside given that organic B/S growth is likely to trend above mid-to-HSD guidance with WTFC's unique scale to pull further market share in Chicago and across its national niche verticals. While we can understand some profit taking given shares' recent outperformance and WTFC's current ~1x premium vs. peers on forward P/Es, we still anticipate WTFC generating superior returns this year."
