Oppenheimer analyst Chris Kotowski raised the price target on U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB) to $63.00 (from $62.00) while maintaining a Outperform rating.
The analyst commented: "USB reported 4Q24 EPS of $1.01 versus our and consensus $1.05E. The results included a few notable items (lease impairments) without which the EPS would have come in at $1.07, and that seems like a reasonable "operating" EPS number to us. Despite this, the shares traded down 5.6% on earnings day, compared to the S&P down 0.21%. We're not quite sure what tripped the sell algorithms into action, and note that a number of the larger regionals were down in the 1-3% range. In any case, we viewed it as a relatively straightforward and ho-hum quarter that left our estimates and targets pretty much unchanged and would use the weakness to build positions."
