Oppenheimer analyst Leland Gershell reiterated an Outperform rating and $8.00 price target on VBI Vaccines (NASDAQ: VBIV), following the company's recent VBI-1901 data presentation.
The analyst comments: "As presented at a poster session, VBI-1901 showed favorable improvements in median overall survival (mOS) among patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) when given with either of two adjuvants (GM-CSF, AS01B) relative to historical results for standard-of-care (chemo+Avastin). According to incremental Phase 2a results, the rate of 18-month overall survival in the GM-CSF arm (in which two partial responses had featured earlier in the study) was 25% (4/16) with mOS of 12.9 months. In the AS01B arm, 18-month OS was 40% (4/10) with mOS of 14.6 months, and included five patients who achieved stable disease (SD). As SOC imparts mOS of ~eight months, these results indicate nearly six months of additional survival benefit with '1901. We remain encouraged by VBI-1901's performance in this challenging malignancy, and look forward to the commencement of randomized controlled trials in 2H22."
