Piper Sandler analyst Tyler Van Buren reiterated an Overweight rating and $47.00 price target on Aligos Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: ALGS) thinking the ALG-010133 Phase 1 data delay is a blessing in disguise with shares down over 50% offering a unique buying opportunity ahead of a catalyst-loaded 2022. He noted 5 reasons the HBV pipeline is best in class:
1) Topline data from ALG-000184 (CAM)'s Phase 1 study in CHB patients is on track for 2H21 and should be expected at two scientific conferences -- we anticipate one of them will be AASLD (Nov 12-15).
2) While we wait for the ALG-010133 Phase 1 data in CHB in 1H22, we reiterate the encouraging data presented to date and set expectations for the upcoming update.
3) A clean safety profile raises fewer questions on the long term use of the drug.
4) With precedence from nucleic acid polymers (NAPs), we believe the bar of 1log reduction in HBsAg is reasonable and achievable.
5) Delay with ALG-010133 gives ALG-020572 (ASO) an opportunity to catch up and 1H22 could have multiple data readouts.
