RBC Capital analyst Brian Abrahams said cases on Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ: GILD) remdesivir in coronavirus "mixed."
"In addition to the NEJM case report (highlighted in the media today, we believe contributing to some GILD share upside) of the 35yo U.S. pt who recovered quickly after remdesivir dosing (we discuss the limitations of this data here ), we are aware of two additional case reports, both from pts in France. One pt recovered after 22 days and was discharged, though with the mean duration of hospitalization 12 days as per recent published data from China and limited information on this pt's overall course, it is difficult to ascribe this recovery definitively to remdesivir. A second pt in France who received remdesivir for coronavirus has since died."
Abrahams remains cautiously optimistic (max 50/50) on remdesivir's possibility of success with limited likely monetization potential for GILD.
The firm reiterated an Outperform rating and $86.00 price target on GILD.
